Tamlyns on Tour

We are Tash, Jake (57), Lola (12) and Albie (9), a family from Hove, embarking on an exciting adventure around the world in August 2017. Immersing ourselves in different cultures, we want to learn about life in other countries, focus on the small things that make us happy and connected, and grasp special moments. We seek time to talk, listen, play, learn and laugh together as a family. With Japan as one of our first opportunities to do this, it seems pertinent to find out more about their ethos of ‘ikigai’ and carry it with us on our journey. We hope to return all the richer.

Inspired by The Green School

Turtle spotting on Gili Air

Magic of Melaka

Magic of Melaka

Malaysia’s Melaka captivated us with its interesting history. Located halfway between China and India, with easy access to Indonesia, the city attracted merchants from these far off lands, allowing it to blossom from a 14th century fishing village into a favoured...

Fireflies in Kuala Selangor

Fireflies in Kuala Selangor

We’d read about the nightly dazzling performances given by fireflies along the Sungai Selangor and decided we’d venture off the tourist track to experience them. Wow! We were so glad we did; it was such a magical sight - bush upon bush twinkled like pinprick fairy...

Trekking in Taman Negara, Malaysia

Trekking in Taman Negara, Malaysia

Reputed to be the oldest deciduous rainforest in the world (130 million years), Taman Negara drew us in to the depths of its jungle with its old world charm. We drove from the Cameron Highlands, and most of the time felt like we were the only people in the world as...
